My Story

As a survivor of domestic abuse, my journey has been filled with pain, strength, and resilience. I first began to raise awareness about the psychological abuse I endured in a past relationship, sharing my story to help others recognize the signs of control and manipulation. When my ex appeared on Love Island in 2023, I seized the opportunity to amplify my voice, sharing my experience of emotional abuse across TikTok. This went viral, reaching 1.6 million views, and sparked important conversations about coercive control and emotional manipulation. However, after breaking free from that relationship, I found myself in another psychologically abusive one. During this time, I suffered the unimaginable pain of losing a child, which further deepened my understanding of the trauma and isolation many women face. These experiences have shown me just how crucial it is to raise awareness about the impact of abuse, with over 2 million adults in the UK suffering from emotional abuse each year, 1 in 4 affected are women. Through these trials, I realised there was a lack of easily accessible, safe, and supportive resources for women like me—those who are navigating the aftermath of abuse. This journey ignited my passion to create HerHaven, an app designed to provide survivors with not only refuge but also empowerment, support, and the tools to reclaim their lives. HerHaven is born from my desire to give survivors a platform to heal, connect, and rebuild their futures without fear of judgment or further harm.

My Idea

HerHaven is a platform designed specifically for women who have experienced domestic abuse. It’s a community-driven app that offers a safe, moderated environment where survivors can find educational resources, connect with others who truly understand their struggles, and access vital support services. Through features like community forums, emergency hotlines, safety plans, and a resource directory, HerHaven will be an essential tool for women reclaiming control over their lives.

The funds raised will go directly into the development of HerHaven, covering costs like:

• App development and design: Creating a user-friendly platform that meets the needs of survivors.

• Content creation: Producing educational videos and guides on topics like legal rights, self-care, and recovery.

• Safety features: Implementing emergency buttons, anonymous chat options, and a safety plan builder for users.

• Community building: Developing and moderating safe spaces for survivors to connect and support each other.

• Marketing and outreach: Spreading the word to ensure every woman in need can find and benefit from HerHaven.
