- Hi, my name’s Elise and I’m a 21 year old criminology student who wants to help facilitate positive change to peoples lives, whether that’s big or small. Centred through helping people affected by homelessness, I am looking to fundraise money and set up a 100%, non-profit project, in order to provide basic provisions for people living on the streets. This will include individual packages that will provide items such as, sandwiches and food, drinks from water to fizzy pop, pairs of socks/hats/clothing. I would also like to give note pads and crayons/pencils etc, so people can doodle/write down any of their thoughts and feelings. As well as providing lists of shelters & support groups in the area, and providing little positive notes in each of the bags I will be making and giving out.
I’ve always found it gut wrenching when I see people affected by homelessness on the streets, but I’ve also always felt so helpless and unsure on what I can do to help. As well, with society’s developments in terms of technology & contactless payments, I appreciate how hard it can be not having spare change to hand, further adding to the feeling of helplessness.
I appreciate there are other major charity / fundraising pages and others long-term ways In which people can help people impacted by homelessness. This fundraiser will focus on direct, short-term hand outs that will support the local people of Newcastle, more specifically, people in North Shields, Whitley Bay, Monkseaton, Tynemouth and Cullercoats.
Hopefully this might reach out to people who want to make homeless people feel visible and heard in smaller ways. And for those who perhaps don’t have the time themselves to go out their ways and make packages like these, as well as giving them out. So if this is for you, any donation would be appreciated in order to help me buy provisions, as 100% of the money provided will go to buying and supplying items. Lastly, I will be providing evidence for all the individual fundings/donations so that people know 100% of their money has genuinely went towards this cause.
