The Helping Hands Community Trust has been operating as a registered charity for 25 years.
Our offices are in South Wigston, an area of high deprivation. Historically our work was predominantly within the Borough of Oadby & Wigston (Oadby, Wigston Magna and South Wigston), however over time our reach has spread to a number of neighbouring districts and into the city. (see data section)
We are a local charity, that supports residents and is well-known and respected across the borough, County and Leicester city.
We excel at identifying and assisting the needs of the most vulnerable, who are unable to engage due to social exclusion and have multifaceted and complex issues. We provide free independent advice tackling the underlying causes of poverty, deprivation, and isolation. We also increase the quality of life by delivering ongoing support, re-injecting confidence and empowerment to regain self-respect and control.
In 2023 the Trust was voted as Charity of the Year by Voluntary Action Leicestershire.
We want to make our services as accessible as we can, so we are partnering with other fantastic groups locally to provide shared spaces where people can encounter a holistic approach to their issues.
As part of this strategy we are moving our premises in South Wigston to which we hope will offer a safer, more accessible space.
Our current funding need is the raise £10,000 towards the relocation costs
