Helping hand with fuel costs

Aim: There are many within our community who will be in fuel poverty over the coming months due to no fault of their own, we would like to help

We shouldn't have to choose between having a hot shower or not. Whether to have cold beans on bread or not. We shouldn’t have to hear childrens stories of when they felt so cold they had to sleep with their coat on.
Since the start of the pandemic, Community Champions have helped thousands of families with food and toiletries, we are now faced with something which is heart breaking to hear, a food parcel suitable for a family with access to only a kettle. Thanks to the amazing donations from local groups and the community we can help source an oven and microwave, but when suggested to the family, they sadly had to refuse as they wouldn’t be able to run them due to fuel costs.
We are hoping to help families in the local area to help with fuel costs over winter and if possible an ongoing basis. We would like to give families some relief to ensure it is not a choice for their children to have a hot shower, a warm dinner and a good nights sleep.

Families living in poverty is rising exponentially as the effects of the pandemic are still coming to light. We have helped some absolutely amazing and wonderful individuals, and have been reaching out to local charities, schools and groups to do what we can to help those in need.
