This winter, my dear friend has already faced a very difficult Christmas, and now things are getting even worse. For over a year, she’s been battling with her housing provider to fix severe damp, mould, and condensation issues. While they attempted repairs recently, the work was incomplete, and things have only deteriorated. Her flat is beyond a joke. In addition to severe damp and mould, the entire place is needs sorting out. The bath panel is broken, the toilet flooded, the kitchen sink flooded, and under the sink was constantly leaking. The cupboards are rotten, the taps in the bathroom are loose and not even connected properly, and the kitchen countertops are disconnected from the units. It’s impossible to keep the flat clean and safe in these conditions. The flooring is completely soaked due to water damage from toilet flooding in feb 1st then made worse due to a a leak under the sink, which has now been repaired, but the damage remains. The laminate flooring, already ruined by a previous flood, is so waterlogged that stepping on it causes water to seep through. Her front door is too small, causing severe condensation, and though she was told over a year ago that it needed replacing, she’s been told it won’t be fixed until January. Even with the heating on, the flat is freezing cold, and high energy bills are adding to her struggles. The mould has already ruined her three-year-old daughter’s wardrobe, as well as my friend’s clothes and furniture. The flat smells damp, and despite her constant efforts to clean and make it livable, it feels like an endless battle. She’s embarrassed to have visitors and just wants a clean, safe home for her and her daughter. She’s been looking for replacement furniture on Facebook and selling sites, never even thinking to ask for help with it all. Her top priority is getting help to afford a cheap vinyl floor so it can be laid properly and prevent mould from returning. Additionally, she wants to get specialised anti-mould paint to cover the walls, skirting boards, and other affected areas to further protect against the damp and ensure a clean, safe space for her little girl. The situation has taken a toll on her mental health, and she’s had to send her daughter to stay with family because it’s too cold and unsafe for her at home. Her little girl is now on an asthma pump due to the damp and mould. My friend is heartbroken and just wants to give her child a better environment. She’s not asking for luxury—just the chance to improve her home and stop the mould from destroying it again.Any funds raised will go toward:Replacing the soaked flooring with affordable vinyl to help prevent mould from returning.Purchasing specialised anti-mould paint to cover walls and skirting boards and prevent future issues.Addressing the damp and mould so the flat is safe for her daughter.Helping her create a livable, warm, and clean home by fixing the critical issues in the bathroom, kitchen, and other areas. Please consider helping my friend and her little girl during this incredibly difficult time. Every little bit helps, and now I've set up this page i can tell her all about it and I just know she will be so grateful and she will be so grateful for your support.
