To procure funding for a funeral befitting of a man who gave everything in service of the Crown in the Forces.

by Frankie Griffiths in Abergavenny, Wales, United Kingdom

As an only child, and one of only 3 surviving members of family; it has befallen me to procure funding for a funeral of a man who gave his better years to the UK Armed Forces, serving from the age of 17 up to the age of 35 in the Army Air Corps, whereon he was discharged upon the discovery of cancer. What followed was a harrowing 10 years of intense struggle and battle with this disease as it tore its way through the body, until the worst happened and my father passed away. He leaves behind me, his only son and his brother, and his wife.

I was raised to be fiercely independent and albeit a bit too hard-headed, but this man was my idol. The reason I myself joined the Armed Forces at 18, until my untimely medical discharge after 6 years due to severe mental health issues. As a result, I have been unable to work and have had many trials and tribulations upon leaving with a housing crisis throughout and after COVID-19, and being on the streets for nearly 2 years and unable to hold a job due to PTSD and Manic depression, so I am now having to bite my tongue and ask strangers for any generosity in their hearts, to donate if they see fit.

Every penny will be going towards his funeral and wake, as sorting such an amount of money in that time just is beyond feasible for myself, however I do try and sell my art when I'm able to get some done as a way to raise funding.
