Help Greens topple the Tories at East Sussex County Council in May 2025. It's time for a new, greener administration.

by Wealden Green Party in Forest Row, East Sussex, United Kingdom

In May 2023 Wealden Greens won big in the District election and now are running Wealden District Council in a progressive Alliance after nearly 50 years of Conservative rule.  With a mission to make Wealden greener, fairer and kinder for this and future generations, we have already made a huge difference in 18 months.

Green Leader of Wealden District Council and Councillor for Hartfield, Rachel Millward, says: Our success was, in no small part, thanks to YOU. Your donations made our 'Green Wave' possible. Thank you so much."

Green Cabinet member at Wealden District Council and Councillor for Horam and Punnetts Town, Greg Collins expresses our high expectations for the 2025 election: "We know we can build on our local success. We're standing a Green candidate in every Wealden division at the County elections. Our aim is to become part of a new, greener administration."

Rachel continues: "East Sussex County Council has been Conservative for a long time. They control many of our vital services, for example our buses, highways, children's services and adult social care. They are also the lead authority on our town centre regeneration. Much of the work we want to get on with at a local level gets held up by them. It's frustrating, and we really need a change."

Our Green Councillors on the County Council, Anne Cross and Georgia Taylor, have already changed the conversation on county, bringing more of a focus on social justice and equality, urging climate action in all of the county areas of work and making sure there is accountability in service delivery (especially in the poor quality road repairs!).

Green Councillors work hard, listen and respond to their residents and fight for the best possible policies for communities and for nature. You can help us make East Sussex greener and fairer for all.

Wealden Green Party needs £10,000 to more than double the number of councillors we currently have on the County Council.  We know how to get Greens elected. But it takes time and money and a huge volunteer effort. If you can help us with a donation- every tenner counts - we would be so grateful.

Some of the activities your contribution could help fund:

  • Newsletters to feature our candidates and update residents on the news from Greens in power
  • 60 second surveys to hear from residents and build local teams
  • Campaign literature to build awareness of the candidates and the Green brand
  • Postage to reach some of the more remote areas (we deliver nearly all literature by hand with a large team of volunteers)
  • Pay for the Elections Campaign Manager (two months of pay needed)

If you are feeling super-generous and wish to donate over £500, then we will need your contact details to pass to the Electoral Commission, who are the Authority that makes sure our elections are run fairly.

If you would like to donate a super large amount and want to donate directly to the Wealden Green Party please email: [email protected] for details of how to do this.
