We need your help to create a safe, comfortable winter home for Dorothy the sheep and her friends.

On the 17th October 2023 we'd raised £440 with 21 supporters in 21 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Dorothy and her 3 friends arrived at the Sanctuary dirty, terrified and heavily pregnant. They were on their way to the slaughterhouse, with their babies in their bellies. We took them in helped them to nurture their little ones in a warm place of peace and dignity.
Dorothy, Talia, Molly and Polly when they arrived
Just 2 days after stepping off the truck, from an exhausting and nerve-wracking journey, Dorothy the sheep gave birth to 3 lambs. The first, a tiny, premature boy, died in our hands. He came too early - he didn't make it to freedom. Soon after, sisters Toto and Glinda came into the world, and mum cautiously began to take care of her babies.
The following week, Talia gave birth to a little boy, Rupert. Both mums, along with their friends Molly and Polly, slowly learnt that we were here to help. It has been a very slow process to heal the wounds of trauma that they experienced, and we are still not completely there.
Rupert and mum Talia, just a day old
With their sudden (and rather stressful) arrival, bringing up the babies in safety was the main priority of the Sanctuary. Dorothy and her family have since outgrown their accommodation, and we now need to create a safe, appropriate winter home, with more grazing to allow for winter rotation, an outdoor daytime shelter to offer protection from the weather whichever section they are in that day, and a clean yard to keep their feet off the mud.
We already have a group of amazing, willing, compassionate human beings lined up to help us with the build, but we need the materials.
The Sanctuary is very low on funds currently, and we are saving our pennies to meet the next feed bill. So, to give Dorothy and her family what she deserves, we need your help.
We are looking to raise £1000 to help us to purchase:
- fence posts
- wooden rails
- two small gates
- mud control mats
- other timber and fixtures

Please, help us to give this gorgeous family what they deserve.
A huge thank you from Dorothy, Glinda, Toto, Talia, Rupert, Molly and Polly, and everyone else here at Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary.
Thank you
