Help Us Rebuild After Losing Everything in the DANA Storm
I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart in the wake of the devastating flood that recently struck Valencia. This disaster has affected countless families, including ours, leaving unimaginable loss in its path. Over 250 lives have been lost, thousands have been displaced, and for our family of seven, this tragedy has left us homeless and in search of stability.
Among us are two family members with disabilities and a loved one over 90 years old. Both of our homes have been destroyed, along with all of our belongings—essential appliances, adapted vehicles, and specialized mobility equipment. These resources are critical for our family members with disabilities, and without them, even basic daily tasks are now a major challenge.
Although the government has pledged £5,000 per family and insurance will cover only the depreciated value of our vehicles, it barely scratches the surface of what we need to begin rebuilding. The estimated cost to replace everything we’ve lost and restore accessible housing and equipment is £180,000. While we are still awaiting the promised aid, we estimate receiving only around £12,000-£15,000, which falls far short of what’s needed.
In this challenging time, we are asking for your help. Any contribution—no matter the size—will be a crucial step in helping us regain stability and restore our lives. Your support will go directly toward creating an accessible home, replacing critical equipment, and securing safe transportation for our loved ones.
We are committed to keeping you updated on our journey to recovery and showing how your generosity is truly making a difference. Thank you for considering our appeal. Your kindness will have a lasting impact on our family, giving us the hope and resilience we need to move forward.
