We live in a highly connected world, and yet we are lonelier than ever. We live in the future, and yet somehow it feels like our issues are problems from hundreds of years ago. Substance use is not the disease, but the symptom. In Not Today we believe that providing a sober space is paramount as a preventive measure. The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, but connection. We also believe that the most vulnerable of us require targeted attention, this is how Sober T was born, a safe sober space, exclusive for the trans community.
Who We Are
Not Today is a sober non-profit offering monthly gatherings to promote connections without substances or alcohol. These get togethers may or may not materialize as workshops (such as sewing, painting, and cooking), always intersecting everything with diverse facets of substance use and abuse and how this impacts our lives.
We advocate for prevention and harm reduction through organic networking. Not Today can be for anyone. A space that can and will transform into anything the community may need to host a sober meeting without strings. Sober T is a trans-only initiative that emulates the Not Today framework creating safe alternatives to spaces often associated with substance use.
Why We Need Your Help
To keep these initiatives running for another year (taking into account that we run two separate events, therefore the sessions will happen bimonthly), we’re raising £15,000 to cover key costs like:
Venue £2400 per year
Materials and supplies £1800 per year.
Catering £1200 per year.
Marketing and outreach £1500 per year.
General commute for coordinators / volunteers £700 per year.
Secure commute for trans guests £2400 per year.
Fair pay for coordinators and workshops guests, including expenses; £5000 per year
