In 2022 we took on a dark, empty and soulless space and transformed it into the space that it is today: a warm, welcoming, relaxing and nurturing space where we hold our support groups, community groups, workshops and other wellness activities and events.
The rent on the space is £430 a month and that is BEFORE utility costs, insurance, and business rates. All costs that we are struggling to find. We are at risk of losing our wonderful Hub and are reaching out to you to help us keep going. Help us raise £5160 to pay our rent for the next 12 months.
Our Hub currently holds space for our Helston peer support group. A group that offers women, who are impacted by poor mental health, somewhere to come along, once a fortnight and sit with other women who need support. A space that offers safety, comfort, connection and hope. A group that holds no judgment - just listens, empathises and offers ways to manage mental health and wellness.
As well as this wonderful group we also hold a fortnightly group for parents/carers who are navigating the journey of having a neurodiverse child/children in their care. This incredible group gives parents and carers the opportunity to come along and talk about their journey, their struggles, their fears and also, the chance to vent and expend some of the anger and frustration that comes with accessing help, resources and support for children who are neurodiverse.
Upon hearing that they may lose this vital space, one group member replied that they "couldn't imagine feeling safe enough to break down and be themselves anywhere else" - and this was echoed by many other group members.
This was a real eye opener as to how important the space is and what the impact may be to lose it.
Alongside the groups, the Hub holds workshops, open to the community, where they have the chance to learn new skills and socialise. The workshops are either free, or heavily subsidised by us, and are integral to combating isolation; as well as empowering individuals with new skills and confidence.
Other workshops we have held include BSL, crafting & recycling/up-cycling/make & mend; which are not only a great way to meet new people and learn new skills, but also create a way to support sustainability: something which we are passionate about.
We also use the Hub to hold wellness workshops, empowering women to use methods such as controlled breathing, meditation and mindfulness to help manage mental health and well-being.
If we are able to keep our Hub we plan on offering various other groups: including support and information groups to help women who are facing the period of peri/menopause. We are lucky enough to have an array of wonderful practitioners, coaches and other informative individuals who want to come onboard and help us HELP women to be more empowered in the transitional periods of their lives.
So, as you can see - the Hub is not just a place, a space... it's a lifeline for many. And we are determined to fight to keep it. But we can't do it alone. And that's why we are asking for your help.
We recognise the impact of the ever rising Cost of Living, and we are feeling it, too. So we are asking, only if you are able to. Please donate whatever you can afford. A pound, two pounds.. whatever! Every single penny we raise will enable us to continue to hold space in our Snug Hub. Every single penny will help us to empower women, give them safety, validation, support and hope.
Every single penny will enable us to offer the space to the community, as a place to learn, socialise and combat isolation. And every single penny could help us save lives! Lives lost to female suicide.
