We've been developing a show with a cast of sex worker artists since January 2022. In March, we took a work in progress of the show to a sold out audience at The Glory.
We are hoping to raise money to help us to continue to develop this show, these costs include: paying someone to help us write an arts council funding bid (£200) and the 20% we need of our final costs to apply for arts council funding (£2000).
Total we need to raise: £2200.
Here's what some people said about the show:
The show was raw, honest and showcased some incredible writing while managing to remain playful and funny. The comedy actually delivered some of the more heartbreaking moments which was as destabilising as it was enjoyable. I've never seen a play where the bravery of the cast earned the empathy and respect of an audience in a way that felt so palpable which felt really beautiful to be a part of.

A huge amount of respect, admiration and empathy for the cast. Shocked, sad, angry at all the systems in place that are fundamentally broken and a contempt for the people that benefit within those systems. It made me look at sex work through a new lens, particularly the hypocrisy around perceptions of sex work. It was high energy and glam but the honest writing sort of de-sensationalised the subject matter in a way that felt like it reclaimed it from Hollywood and shone a light on it for what it is - hard work.

Sexquisite's show Stripped teared me up! Laughed, cried and then cried some more. Raw, honest and much needed. We need more shows like this because theatre has always been a stage for politics and the revolution.
