I am a single mother of two, my family has had a horrific few years in which my husband lost his battle to cancer and my son having autism has been really difficult to deal with alone. I am trying to raise money to get a safe space bed and play equipment for my son who has ASD, ADHD and learning difficulties.
Our local council is not funding these special beds and as with all special needs equipment it is very expensive. But the safety bed comes with a life time guarantee so it will last him all through adulthood and is a bed designed around him being a fully grown man one day it has been tested on adults throwing their weight around inside it so during meltdowns he will always be safe through his life so it is a purchase that will change his life and in turn mine and my daughter's as it affects us all him not sleeping.
The bed will be a safe space and bed with high sides that will keep my son safe during the night. Without this he can not be left on his own and needs to be watched over constantly. So he needs the bed to ensure he is safe during the night his learning disability makes it difficult for him to understand the danger of climbing on the window ledge, going downstairs or getting in to all sorts of things he shouldn't while me and my daughter are asleep. The bed will be a safe space for him to be in during meltdowns so he can't bash his head on the floor or come to any harm as he throws himself around from frustration. And some where for him to go when he is overwhelmed. Not being able to sleep from the worry is exhausting and mentally really taking its toll I want to be able to sleep knowing he's safe and can't hurt himself in any way.
