At Surface Coffee Roasters, we’re not here to tick sustainability boxes we’re here to flip the system. After 12 years in the coffee industry, we’ve seen the greenwashing up close: compostable packaging that never get composted, certifications that cover up more than they solve, and "eco-friendly" claims wrapped in single-use waste.

So we’re doing something different.

We’ve already done the hard part we built a fully fledged coffee roastery from the ground up, and we funded that ourselves. Now, we’re raising funds to launch the final piece: a brand-new stainless steel lifetime canister with a built-in air valve, designed to keep coffee fresh and packaging waste non existent. Every part of the system is 100% reusable. No single-use bags. No landfill guilt. Just circular, refillable coffee that works. 

We’ve already proven it works saving over 25,000 single-use bags through our refill program, with coffee shipped in returnable containers across the UK with our wholesale customers. 

Our Commitment: No More Single-Use Packaging

At Surface Coffee Roasters, we’re done making excuses.

Over the past six months, we’ve been working hard to make our business 100% refill only. We began with our wholesale clients, and to date, we’ve saved over 25,000 single use coffee bags from ending up in landfills or worse, in our oceans.

And it works. We’re already shipping coffee in refillable containers from Cornwall to Scotland, and now we’re rolling this out to retail customers and subscription services.

The Refillable Revolution

We’ve developed a reusable canister system with one goal in mind: longevity. Each canister is designed with a valve made from recycled steal so while we clean up, we also create a durable product that lasts a lifetime.

Here’s how it works:

• You receive your coffee in a reusable canister.

• When you’re done, just pop it back in the box and send it back we even cover return shipping.

• That’s it.

People might say they “don’t have the time,” but maybe take a look at your social media screen time. You do have time to make a difference.

We want to set an example others can follow. To reduce the damage we’re doing every single day. Because when 8 billion people say, “It’s just one coffee bag,” that’s when we have a problem.
