Children in Ukraine are under constant threat from war. Many had to flee their homes, experience and witness abuse and destruction. They are suffering from immense psychological trauma. The impact of this trauma is long-lasting and damaging.
My name is Oksana Nabok. I want to use my passion and my experience as an artist to help children overcome this trauma through art therapy. On the basis of my project, GetOnArt, I am running workshops, twice a week for children in Kyiv, and in the worst affected areas around Kyiv, in Borodyanka. The workshop lasts two hours, with the size of the class from 10 to 12 children. Sometimes the parents join in, and share the joys of art with their children.
I also curate art boxes for children to take with them to practice art in their own time, helping to strengthen the effect of therapy.
The cost to run this project for a month, with two workshops per week, benefiting close to 100 children is approximately £1,000. This money will be used to purchase art material, materials for the art boxes, and cover the cost of travel and time.
At the moment, the workshops are run through my own means, and I am looking for long-term support with this project.
The main goal is to provide free and accessible support in the form of warm communication and direct interaction, creating a space of trust and relieving psychological trauma.
