Aim: We’re raising £10,000 to help Oaken Grove Community Centre and our Community Ties Youth Provision continue to thrive.

We are Haxby & Wigginton Youth & Community Association, a small local charity responsible for the management of Oaken Grove Community Centre, a much-loved hub in the heart of Haxby and Wigginton.  HWYCA also deliver Community Ties, our vibrant youth provision.

Every week, our centre and youth team welcome children, families, older residents, and volunteers through the doors for:

  • Youth clubs and creative workshops
  • Parent and toddler groups
  • Mental health, wellbeing and exercise
  • Craft, music and drama sessions
  • Support and social groups
  • Volunteering, skills training, and community events

Our aim is simple: to bring people together, reduce loneliness, support young people, and strengthen community spirit.

We’re launching this campaign to raise £10,000 to continue and grow our work in the community.  As part of Small Charities Week 2025, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on the vital role local charities play in everyday lives.

Your support will help us meet rising costs and invest in:

  • Youth provision through Community Ties; supporting young people through mentoring, activities, and creative sessions
  • Community events, workshops, and inclusive groups
  • Running and maintaining Oaken Grove Community Centre
  • Volunteer training and support for local residents

Your donation helps us keep our services welcoming, accessible, and free or low-cost for everyone who needs them.

What Your Support Will Achieve:

With your help, we can:

  • Provide young people with a safe, creative space to thrive
  • Offer friendly, inclusive activities for all ages
  • Bring people together to reduce loneliness and isolation
  • Support volunteers with training and development
  • Keep our centre buzzing with life, five days a week

This isn’t just about funding a building; it’s about investing in a community where everyone is seen, supported, and celebrated.
