GYSO Roller Discos are looking to raise £7500 to keep the business operational. Please help save your local Roller Disco.

Help keep GYSO Roller Discos operational and raise £7500. This will help towards new personal protection and safety equipment, our public liability insurance, general running costs and much much more!

We are a family run business that has been operating for over 12 years, but due to the restrictions made by the Government in March we had to stop skating entirely without notice. As we work in Leisure Centres only, we are regulated by them, and at this moment in time we have still have had no notification as to when we can get back and start operating again, this means we will remain closed for the foreseeable future, and like so many other small businesses in the UK, after 18 weeks of closure, we are facing a very unpredictable and potentially grave future.

In all our years running we have not once increased our entry price, even though many of our costs increase annually, the rational for this is our wish to treat your families as we would like to be treated ourselves, and we understand how hard it is to have true, honest and affordable fun together – we are happy to have achieved this, and desperately wish to continue to offer this across the South Coast.

Before the pandemic hit and social distancing was put in place, GYSO hosted almost 30 public roller discos and held lots of children's birthday parties each month. In our 12 years of running, we have taught thousands of people to skate and currently host Roller Discos in the following areas: Brighton and Hove, Portslade, Moulsecoomb, Henfield, Crowborough, Uckfield, Billingshurst, Burgess Hill & Lancing.

Although GYSO no longer have their own venue, there are still many bills to pay, and the task of covering this becomes more difficult to sustain with every week that passes, costs such as public liability, insurance and road tax on the vans, the wages and lots more to keep us ready to start back up once we are able. Once we do return we will certainly have a reduced level of skaters in at any one time which will significantly reduce our income – added to this we will have additional costs such as introducing a card payment facility.

In the last few weeks we have been in touch with all the District Councils of the areas we cover to offer outdoor events for Charity, we know how much our skaters will enjoy this on a hot sunny day, and we have the ability to make these amazing, along with everything we need including over 200 pairs of boots, sounds and lighting – we await permission, but will update you on the outcome of this as and when we have some news.

GYSO truly is a family run business, we have a team of almost 30 wonderful Skateguards that enjoy our Roller Discos with their families as much as our customers do. We have spent years helping build a skating community in the South Coast, we know how much people love this healthy social activity which is why we are asking for  your help.

If you are able to afford to donate, even just a small amount, we would be very grateful as our future is so uncertain. We have done all we can to keep the business running, but without the ability to actually host the sessions and the additional costs which will be required, we are not sure how long we will be able to stay operational.

If we can raise some much needed funds, all the money will go into helping us survive this crisis, and will enable us to continue to offer this amazingly popular sport in all the areas we already cover, and many more which were in the planning, and we remain hopeful to be able to bring to life with your help. Thank you very much, we hope to see you soon xx
