Saleem, along with his wife and extended family, are in desperate need of funds to rebuild their home after the destruction caused by bombs. Building materials are in very short supply still and prices for them have tripled. Saleem and his family are currently living in a tent extension from their destroyed home.
I was introduced to Saleem by my local Palestinian Solidarity Campaign group who have strong ties with a community in Al Mawasi. In the last few months I have got to know him and his family via weekly zoom sessions to help him improve his English. Saleem is a trainee nurse and volunteered at the Al Mawasi Emergency Point in the south of the Gaza Strip, responding to emergencies during the war. Saleem wants to rebuild his life, he wants to create security and safety for his family, he wants to work again. This support is essential for them to have a chance at a stable and safe life moving forward.
We are aware that the current situation is ever changing. In the event that things change for the worse and safe passage to Egypt is required, the funds raised will be used to help Saleem and his family rebuild their future in a safer place, where they can start a new life away from the dangers they currently face.
Trump has expressed his desire to take over the Gaza Strip and create a 'riviera in the Middle East'. Let's support families like Saleem's to continue living in their homeland, resisting the ethnic cleansing of these people.
