Saba Siddique's Story

Meet Saba Siddique, a 38-year-old woman from Lahore who has been enduring severe upper abdominal pain for the past two years. Along with this pain, she experiences nausea, vomiting, and jaundice, which at times leaves her bedridden and unable to perform daily tasks. In May 2024, Saba underwent a cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), hoping for relief, but her symptoms persisted. After seeking further medical advice, Saba was diagnosed with choledocholithiasis, a condition caused by stones blocking the bile duct, which can lead to serious complications if untreated.

Her doctor recommended Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a specialized procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions related to the bile ducts, pancreatic duct, and gallbladder. Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure is far beyond what Saba and her family can afford.

Saba lives in a modest one-room house with her husband and one other family member. Her husband works long hours as a tailor, earning a modest PKR 20,000 per month. This income barely covers their basic needs, leaving no room for savings or expensive medical procedures. As Saba’s health continues to deteriorate, her family has turned to Transparent Hands for support.

Without the ERCP procedure, Saba’s condition will continue to worsen, putting her at risk of severe infections, liver failure, and other life-threatening complications. Her daily pain has become unbearable, leaving her unable to manage household chores or care for her family. Saba has expressed deep concern for her future and her family’s well-being, humbly asking for help.

Saba Siddique’s Plea

“I am scared about my health and want to be well again. My husband is doing everything he can to make ends meet, but the cost of this procedure is far beyond what he can afford. I humbly request you to please help me overcome this sharp pain and discomfort.”
