On the 24th August 2022 we'd raised £745 with 22 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Overnight, on Tuesday 28th June 2022, Elite Dance Studios / Impact Community Hub in Sundorne, Shrewsbury's facility was the victim of significant vandalism to our skylights and roof, causing significant interior damage.
Approximately 25 skylights have been smashed and the roof vandalised, needing major repairs.
The interior of the building has suffered major losses from this, including glass embedded in our vinyl dance floor, in costumes, equipment and shoes, and further water damage through the broken skylights to many areas of the facility.
Not only has this forced us to close while the building is made safe, our dancers annual show takes place in just a few weeks, held in our adjoining sports hall. This show should have the vinyl dance flooring used to provide a safe stage area for dancers to perform, an amazing range of costumes and shoes provided for all dancers, and a safe, welcoming space for their training, rehearsals and performances.
As a non-profit, registered CASC, we provide classes for children and young people who have suffered trauma and abuse, mental health, physical and learning disabilities, and are from many other disadvantaged backgrounds. To be facing the loss of everything that we are, doesn't just affect us as a business, it affects those we support and who put so much into their training with us.
Any contribution towards replacements to enable our dancers to continue to train, and their annual show to still go ahead, will have a huge positive impact on every one of them, and will be very gratefully received.
