About me
Hi my name is Donna and I am 45 years old, married to Adam, with two sons, Morgan & Hari.
I have been employed by the NHS for the past 17 years, I have recently handed in my notice to fulfil my ambition of providing daycare services to people living with dementia locally.
Why am I doing this ?
Being experienced in caring for people living with dementia has made me aware of the lack of accessible services locally. The covid pandemic has severely impacted our health and social care systems. Day centres that closed as a result of covid remain shut due to staff shortages leading to more pressure put upon unpaid carers, delayed hospital discharges due to no available domiciliary care staff and even premature admissions in to nursing homes.
Helping people living with dementia and their families and carers is my focus. This vulnerable group of individuals are often overlooked, their voices are not heard and services are limited. I want to help them and alleviate some of the pressures upon our health and socil care systems.
What is Ty Dol and why do we need your help?
Ty Dol provides sit-in and shopping services to serice users in their own homes. We are opening a day centre, initially for two days per week, progressing to six as we become more established. We have an appropriate building to use with dining chairs and tables, nut we need high back, comfortable armchairs for people to sit comfortably.
Grateful
Ty Dol would gratefully appreciate any donation, big or small, that will allow us to help us purchase these chairs so that we can start making a difference in our local community and bring much needed support to the people of Pen Llyn, their families and carers, who are living with dementia.
Thank you for taking the time to read Ty Dol's plea, your contribution could help us to make this happen
