Aim: We are raising money to keep our competitive swimmers swimming!!
Who are we?
North Cornwall Dragons is a competitive Swimming Club based in Bodmin and Wadebridge. Our Club strives to ensure that each member is given the opportunity to reach their potential by following a training pathway. Swimmers are encouraged to follow a training programme and commit to competitive swimming which spans from grass root, club level galas, through to County, Regional and National competitions.
We have members whose ages range from 7 to 50+. We provide structured, coached training sessions for swimmers who are just starting their competitive swim journey to those that are regional and national standard.
We have seen many of our swimmers achieve qualification to enter County, Regional, National Championships... and even the Olympics!!
Summary of Our Campaign
WE NEED A MUCH NEEDED BOOST!!! Over the last 2 years we have focused ALL of our fundraising efforts on raising money to replace the tired diving blocks and back stroke wedges used for the many competitive swimming galas held throughout the year. These are now installed and used by ALL competitive swimmers within Cornwall. HOWEVER...this has resulted in our Club making a huge loss financially - we have not been able to fundraise the extra monies needed to help run our much loved Club. Swimming Clubs rely heavily of fundraising...the reality is the monthly income from membership fees don't always cover monthly costs, such as swimming pool hire!
How we’ll spend the money raised
This fund is designed to enable North Cornwall Dragons Swimming Club to continue swimming...to help pay for swimming pool hire.
Pool hire costs the Club over £45K per year, with year-on-year cost increases. We want our swimmers to be able to train with their friends, maintain a high level of fitness and to achieve their competitive swimming goals. Swimming improves mental health and being a member of the Club also develops general life skills, social interaction, personal discipline and commitment.
