I am fundraising for a hysterectomy for my mother who is suffering physically and mentally with protruding uterus fibroids.

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you for taking a moment to read this. It truly means the world to me.

My name is Thomas, and I’m an only child. My mum has always been my rock—she’s worked hard her entire life, paid her taxes, and never asked for anything in return. But now, she’s the one in need, and the NHS is failing her.

She has multiple fibroids growing inside her uterus—diagnosed but left untreated. Despite my constant calls to NHS gynaecologists and pushing her GP for answers, we’re getting nowhere. The lead consultant is on extended leave, and no one is stepping in to help. My mum is begging for relief, but no one is listening.

If you’re unfamiliar with fibroids, they are growths that can be either cancerous or non-cancerous. Hers have been classified as non-cancerous for now, but they are growing rapidly. The only thing that eases her menopause symptoms is HRT—but tragically, it also fuels the fibroids.

In just a year, my mum has gone from her normal body shape to looking six to seven months pregnant. Her largest fibroid is now 6.5cm—well beyond the size where removal is recommended. Not only is this affecting her mentally, but it’s causing physical pain and putting pressure on her organs. If the fibroids grow too large and start dying off, it could lead to shock and sepsis.

And on top of everything, I’m getting married in August. My mum should be looking forward to this day, but instead, she’s feeling self-conscious and struggling to find anything that fits. No mother should feel like this on her only son's wedding day.

We can’t wait any longer. The NHS has left us with no choice but to go private—but the surgery costs between £10,000 and £15,000, and we simply can’t afford that on our own.

I know this may not directly affect you, but if you can spare anything—anything—you would be giving my mum the chance to reclaim her body, her health, and her happiness.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
