My name is Genna and i go by the name of Genna|Tutorials online across most social media channels, I am a makeup fanatic, formulator, CEO, mummy, wife and everything else in between.
As many of you may know if you've watched my journey before, i do have my own business 'Genna Tutorials Collection' and you have been on this journey with me through some of the highest highs and lowest of lows and we have shared that across social media for some time, being a very open and transparent business owner, we have together gone through some crazy times together.
I opened up my business in 2021, 2 years from my first born baby being born and we did incredibly well and as a women in business who had never ran a business before, coming with ZERO business knowledge, all i knew was how to formulate and be a creative, i often lacked a lot of whats to know in business which led me on to make some crazy mistakes. A year down the line we was thriving, bringing out palette no 1 - this was my wildest dream, and the cherry on the cake for me was to have a launch party to go along with this, that palette did incredibly well and that palette went on to having a 2nd series launch, exactly a year after in 2023! From this we threw another launch party, but at this point i was running before i could walk.
I prided myself on having a stable business, being able to do what i love in makeup, with the support network i had online, supporting my dreams, my formulas, my designs and my total love for being around them. Until one day i had a letter through my office door which took me to rock bottom. This letter told me i owed out thousands of pounds in cooperation tax, what is this i asked? Id never even heard of it. Coming from a creative background and not business, this was something that completely took me to a whole new level of anxious, i had built a thriving business, all for it to feel like it was about to be swept from under my feet - if i paid all this back in one go, id have no business left. No money to reinvest in product for our customers, etc.
I made a hasty decision through being scared ( & early in pregnancy! Hormones were in full swing) that i would sell up everything i had in stock this one particular day, i told my sister she would need to find a new job asap as she was working for me, and that day, we took in one of the biggest days profit wise of my career which led me to think, what can i do to salvage this business i've poured all my time, hard work and dedication into?
Brands i had worked previously with reached out to me, and offered me incredible advice, i reached out to investors who wasn't interested in such a small business, i reached out to a friend of mine who helps coach businesses providing them simple strategies and with the help of others i decided to make a last shot of the business, which let me tell you has not been an easy road during a cost of living crisis and losing a lot of my social media engagement on platforms.
Since that moment i made that decision its been constant work, no holidays, no spending, just working to make ends meet and pure dedication until i have been in a position to bring the business out of the hole and make something of it, which takes us till now.
Now, my followers as most of you know if you already follow me have been asking for a palette to come back as a lot of you missed out on the first 2 we brought out.
& as you know, if you are recent to my business there has been a big change in the branding, but i have formulated an absolute beauty before our eyes, however, to make this happen i need your help.With costs rising including in formulation, the UK leaving the EU, shipping from overseas being extortionate, and everything else in between, as you can imagine this is a huge step for me to bring to the table when its incredibly expensive and i'm still trying to get my business out of the hole it was once in. We simply don't have the cash at the moment to provide the upfront payment my lab needs in order to get this on the production line, which is where this crowdfunding plays a part.
I am not asking people for huge donations to gain nothing for themselves because i don't believe in that, this is to help me raise the funds to get the product on the production line, but in return, you will get the palette (The Final Rodeo) sent to you, once it lands with me, in the warehouse. Please be aware this can take some time on the production line, in product testing, quality checking and shipping from my lab to land with us, but its most definitely worth the wait.
By also helping me, you would be supporting my whole dreams, in building, learning, and not making the same mistakes i did when i first came into business. Ive learnt some of the biggest mistakes in the 3 years i've been trading but i dont want that to hold me back anymore, the fire in my tummy is so hot right now and I'm determined to make something of this business I've worked so hard for.
