Aim: The book explores topics like hope, love, loss, support, and loneliness, showing the importance of building strong, lasting connections.

My name is Janet Campbell, a Londoner of Jamaican heritage, and I come from a large, loving family. Throughout my career as a support worker, I’ve had the privilege of working with young people both in one-to-one and group settings within schools. This experience has ignited my passion for teaching young people the invaluable skills of reading and writing. I believe that storytelling holds the power to teach life lessons and to inspire others.

I wrote my first children’s book, Ben Goes to the Seaside, while I was in secondary school, so this upcoming project will be my second book. The idea of publishing this book has always been a dream of mine.

The motivation to write this book became even stronger after I tore my Achilles tendon. Unable to work or leave the house, I decided to use the time to focus on completing my book. With the support of my close family and friends, and through extensive research on relationships, I was able to explore various topics about love, relationships, and the challenges they come with.

Publishing this book means the world to me. I believe that it has the potential to inspire someone to believe in themselves and realise the power of determination in achieving their dreams.

Why I’ve Written This Book

Growing up, I often felt overlooked and misunderstood. As an only child, I faced bullying from primary school through to secondary school, which made me feel isolated. With little extra support in school, I struggled and was constantly made to feel that I wasn’t good at much.

However, one thing that kept me going was my love for reading and writing. I still remember writing a children’s story about a lonely clock, which I was incredibly proud of. But when it was questioned whether I’d actually written it, that moment planted a seed of doubt in my abilities.

Despite that, it also set a dream in motion: the dream that I could write a book. This book represents that dream and the strength it took to overcome self-doubt. It’s for anyone who has ever been made to feel less than, and it’s a reminder that there’s always hope for a brighter future through perseverance.

How I’ll Use the Money I Raise

The funds I raise will go towards the publication process of my book, including editing, designing the cover, printing, and promoting it. I aim to make this book accessible to as many people as possible, especially those who need a reminder that they can overcome their struggles and make their dreams a reality.

To make this dream a reality, I need your help. With your support, I’ll be able to bring this book to life and share its message of hope, love, and determination with the world.
