An UBER driver was left with a broken nose in 3 places after a racist attack from a customer
Mansoor Ahmed was left badly injured and traumatised after an aggravated racist assault. Mansoor, 33, faced a torrent of racist abuse and had his nose broken in three different places by a customer on Christmas Day. He is currently unable to work and to support his family.
"I am father of a 1 year old girl and the main bread earner for my family. I also pay for medical expenses for my mum and dad and my siblings education. Due to all these responsibilities I have to work very hard and that is why I decided to work on the 25 December 2021 (Christmas day). My intention was to make some extra money as well as to help the community as there were no public transport.
I picked up 3 passengers in the evening. The male passenger accused me of ripping them off and making money out of them. He started calling me "P***" and "F****** REFUGEE". I explained to them calmly that I don't deal with the fare it's Uber who control the fares.
They kept calling me names and then he attacked me. I had to go to hospital and I reported the attack to the police. I do not see any progress with the police. I had to lock myself away for 10 days and I am still having nightmares".
Mansoor has asked for the full support of all anti-racists in Brighton & Hove - "I definitely do not want this to happen to someone else - this has been a terrible experience".
