We're still collecting donations
On the 18th June 2020 we'd raised £505 with 18 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

On the 18th June 2020 we'd raised £505 with 18 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We are The Outback Hair Salon in Sydenham. We are a small boutique salon & are proud to have been part of the community for 23 years.
We are a team of one (hair stylist, manager, tea maker, shampooist, colourist, cleaner, stockist, dog walker & everything else in between!) & we are sometimes blessed with a Saturday Stylist or Assistant.
Being in Lockdown since March 21 has completely disrupted our ability to work & this in turn has disrupted our plans to update & recover our four hairdressing chairs & our backwash chair. Four of the chair seats are split, due to age & cleaning & it looks unsightly & not to the pleasing standard of the rest of the salon.
My original aim was to recover the chairs in 2018, when we celebrated our 21st birthday. But I decided to hold a charity party instead to raise money for St. Christophers Hospice, which is a charity dear to my heart.
The party was amazing & was a huge success & was enjoyed by over 100 clients. We held our party in Mayow Park community garden, where we had a mini festival of activities including live music, a complimentary vegan buffet, vegan birthday cake, yoga lessons, a book & plant stall, a card stall, an animal welfare stall, a Splishy-Splashy doggie pool, knitting lessons, cocktails, pimms & a brilliant raffle which raised almost £700 for St. Christopher’s hospice.
Two years later, due to the coronavirus & lockdown, we do not have spare funds for salon repairs. More than ever, we need to fix up & recover our chairs in microbial vinyl which will help to safeguard our clients against coronavirus. This will also help towards giving our clients the confidence to come back to the salon amongst such awful times & worries, & keep small shops like mine in business on the High Street.
I am also putting other safety measures in place to help keep everyone safe, & this is costing money that we are not able to earn at the moment, but is completely necessary.
We are trying to raise £1,000 to recover & repair all the chairs, & we are asking please, for donations of £10 towards ‘making our chairs happy’.
In return, we are offering prizes from a weekly raffle for a free Cut & Blow Dry, carried out by myself.
Each week, I will put everyone‘s name who has donated £10 into a hat, & pull out a ticket. As long as we have raised at least £100 in that week, that person will win a free Cut & Blow Dry done by me . If we don’t make £100, the ticket will win a Paul Mitchell shampoo or conditioner of your choice.
We will pull out a further two tickets, and these people will win a 300ml Paul Mitchell shampoo or conditioner of their choice. This will happen only if we make £130 in that week. Otherwise we may lose money, and this is what we are trying to avoid :-)
When we return to the salon, our capacity to work as before will be doubtful, as our sterilising of the salon between each client will cut down our working time considerably.
I am worried that if we are taking substantially less money, it will be more difficult to justify getting the chairs recovered, as the rent & bills still have to be paid, & I, as the sole earner will not be able to make enough takings to also repair the chairs or do other salon repairs
I hope our rewards sound attractive, & that you will please consider donating £10 towards our cause. A few generous clients have very kindly donated money to the salon already, & these people will automatically be entered into the draw. Many thanks for reading our page,
kindest regards
Paula
