Raising funds to help carers pay for their driving lessons to help make everyday life easier for the carer

by Leanne Spencer in Hull, England, United Kingdom

As a single mum and carer for my beautiful disabled daughter with minimal support I understand the necessity of having a car. I also understand how expensive it is to pay for lessons specially of the person you are caring for needs 24 hour care and having a job to earn enough to live can be almost impossible so saving to learn to drive can also be impossible.

Yes there is public transport but it can be very limiting and in cold weather it can be dangerous, taxis can also become expensive where as being able to drive as a carer qualifies you for a motability vehicle depending on other things.

Being able to drive could change a carers life and potentially the disabled person they are caring for life as well, I know it did mine. I want to be able to give the gift of driving to other carers who desperately need it but I need your help.

There is currently no help out there readily available for carers only the disabled even in cases like mine where the disabled person will not be able to drive the carer gets no help. I want to help change that I know exactly how exhausting it can be to just make it to and from an appointment without a car specially with a wheelchair driving changes everything.

Funds raised will help as many low income carers as possible to get them through driving lessons and on the path to a motability car to help the carer care for the disabled person. By using the funds donated to purchase vouchers redeemed for a driving course and theory test if it is required.

Photos and testimonials of the carers we help get on the road will be updated. This is just the start to helping as many carers across the UK.
