Aim: I’ve made it on to the GB Dragon Boat team! Please help me raise funds to compete at the European Championships in Spain in Sept 22
I’m proud to have been selected as part of the GB Dragon Boat team 2022. I’ll be heading to Spain in September to compete in the European Championships! I am super excited and more than a little nervous.
But….
Dragon boat racing gets zero financial support, so all the training and competing costs are coming from my own pocket. For the European Champs alone this will be around £1750.
That includes:
- GB training weekends across the UK- travel, accommodation and food
- Competition entry fees
- Flights to Spain
- Transfers and parking for Spain
- Hotel accommodation and food in Spain
- Team GB uniform
- Sports therapy appointments to keep me moving!
- Travel to and from my normal training sessions; between 120 and 180 miles a week.
If I make it on to the squad next season, then it’s on to the World Championships in Hong Kong in July 23. With further training weekends and HK flights/hotel, that’s likely to be an additional £3.5k.
So here’s the begging section….. please can you help me represent my country? Any support you can give me is hugely appreciated.
If I’m fortunate enough to receive funds over and above my Spain costs (and I really don’t expect to!), then that will go towards competing in the World Champs in 2023.
