Aim: Support Whistleblowers and provide educational workshops to employers and organisations about whistleblowing and all that comes with it.

My name is Issy Vine and I worked as a communications officer for the Metropolitan Police between Feb 2020 - Dec 2024. 

In 2023, a colleague had made several concerning comments. The first, calling a r*pe victim a "sl*t", wishing immigrants would "f" off back home and whispering "that's Sarah Everard's turf" in my ear whilst I was on a live 999 call in the South-West London area. 

I reported him, he was dismissed at New Scotland Yard for Gross Misconduct. However, 4 months later he appealed, had won, been reinstated and awarded all of his pay he lost whilst he was dismissed and annual leave. 

I met the appeal decision maker to understand what on earth had happened. He was the Director of our department and his rationale was that my allegations were still proven and he believed me, just that it was "too harsh" to dismiss him and deprive him of working in civil service, that the original panel (which was 2 women and 1 man) were too "heavily influenced by VAWG and the Casey Report" and you can have "any opinion you want and work for the Met, only when it is an action they will act."

Yes, I was so shocked. 

So I left and founded Speak Up Now UK CIC. 

We believe that accountability is the cornerstone of a fair and democratic society. Speak Up Now UK CIC is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to exposing wrongdoing, amplifying whistle-blowers, and shining a light on abuses of power across the UK within public and emergency services. We support truth-tellers and provide the public with facts that matter.
