We're still collecting donations

To raise money in order to help Emina continue the great work she does in taking stray cats & dogs off the streets & giving them a safe home

On the 23rd March 2023 we'd raised £210 with 10 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
In 2021, whilst cycling through Montenegro, we found a puppy abandoned on the side of a mountain. He was skeletal and exhausted by being left out on an exposed mountainside in 35 degree heat. After establishing that he had definitely been abandoned, we took him down to the closest town and set about contacting organisations that might be able to take him in. Our calls were answered by the wonderful people at Stray Aid Montenegro, who arranged to pick him up later that day and take him to a foster home - Emina's house. Stray Aid Montenegro work with foster families in Montenegro and use the charities funds to pay for some of the dogs in Emina's care, however only those who are sponsored, meaning that the dogs and cats that Emina finds herself, she has to pay for herself. With 10-15 dogs at any one time, and 20 cats, this is becoming more and more difficult in the current economic climate.
Emina has created a safe haven for the animals, however in the latest autumn/winter rains the dogs were unfortunately able to dig underneath the concrete foundations of their outdoor run and escape to surrounding farmlands, leaving them at risk of being shot or poisoned (this is unfortunately quite common in Montenegro). The holes can be temporarily fixed, however the structure is now weakened and it does not hold out for long periods any more, giving Emina great anxiety and causing her to be sleeping with one eye open at the minute. She would love to be able to build a larger structure on an adjacent piece of land, with a reinforced floor to keep the dogs safe, however does not have the funds for this and SAM unfortunately also do not have the money to spare.
To be clear, the land is already bought and this fundraiser is for the materials and labour. I'd love to raise enough for Emina to realise her dream, however, if falling short, any amount raised will go directly to help with the costs of feeding the animals and getting all the relevant vaccines and medical treatment that Emina is currently paying for herself.
Stray Aid Montenegro are also in dire need of funds, so please donate there if you prefer donating direct to a registered charity.
With thanks from Luna, Lepa, Belli, Gari, Micika, Ariel, Malibu, Tuzi, Pippin, Choco, the 2 latest little puppies, and all the cats!
