It's clear that the ever increasing cost of food, gas and electric is still an issue to people in the community.
At our weekly food club we offer tinned, fresh, chilled and frozen food. We charge £2.50 for a minimum of 12 items and we have been given a 5* rating by environmental health. Despite the rising cost of food, we have not increased the prices for our food club.
CommUNITY Little Hulton needs your support with our crowdfunding to be able to continue to offer our food services to members of our community.
Food club makes such a difference to people who use us. When we talked to people about the food club this is what they said:
Why do you use us?
"I am finding it hard to cope with bills and food"
"Cost of living"
"Desperate times"
"If I didn't, I wouldn't be able to feed myself"
What would you do if we weren't here?
"Panic"
"Get into debt"
"Starve" - 7 people we spoke to actually said they would starve if we didn't run food club.
We want to be able to continue to be able to buy a choice of food for our food club, so people have a choice of what food they take, and pick things that their families will actually eat. The money we raise will enable us to do this.
We also offer a nappy, wipes and milk service for food club members with children under the age of 5. Food club members also receive eater eggs and toys for their children as part of our yearly appeals.
Food club is so important to people in the community as it takes away the stress and anxiety of being able to provide food for themselves and their families, and to make their money stretch further with the ever increasing cost of essentials.
