Drivedeck delivery
Hello everyone,
One final message from us. Apologies for not being able to update you sooner.
Due to some unforseen circumstances, the Drivedeck order was delayed.
But we are very pleased to let you know, it was delivered to school last week!!! The staff and children are very excited 😊
Thank you very much!
We did it!
Hello everyone,
Charlie's school and our family would like to thank you all for your support and generosity!
It's been incredible 7 weeks!
The boys finished the challenge on Sunday. In total, Charlie cycled 7 miles while James cycled 71.11 miles and ran 70.54 km in total.
In the first few weeks, James had to fit his cycling and running after school and between weekend clubs. He found running especially hard to do but he kept going.
Charlie had to wait for the right weather conditions to cycle, i.e. no rain, temperature below 22 degrees, some clouds :)
A "Thank you" message from Charlie on his communication device (you might need to turn the volume up):

Week 1 Of The Challenge Update
Thank you so much, everyone, for your support!
Just a quick update on the boys' progress so far:
James ran a total of 12.49 kilometres and cycled 7.13 miles despite hurting his ankle on day 2.
Charlie cycled 2.57 miles.

My name is James, I am 7 years old. My older brother, Charlie, is 10 and has a rare genetic condition which affects his muscle control. He uses a wheelchair but he needs an adult to push him.
I would like to raise money to install a Smart Driving Platform, called a "DriveDeck", at Charlie's school which will help him and his friends to learn how to use a powered wheelchair. This is so important for children like Charlie to be independent.
I am doing a 7 week challenge ( 02/06 - 21/07 ) where I will be cycling 70 miles and running 70 km. Charlie will also be cycling 7 miles on his specially adapted trike. It's going to be really tough for both of us but we are excited for the challenge!
7 reasons to donate:
1. To support my brother and his friends
2. To help them enjoy a bit of independence
3. To allow them to be in control of where THEY want to go
4. Woodlands School is a fantastic place but in need of support
5. 70 miles cycling and 70 km running is a long way for me and 7 miles cycling is quite challenging for Charlie, so it will be nice to know people support the idea
6. A smile on my brother's face makes me happy
7. Every little counts
Please support us if you can. Every pound helps! Thank you very much!
A message from Charlie's School -
"Woodlands School for Pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties is raising money to purchase a SMART platform for independent mobility by wheelchair users.
The Drivedeck SMART platform is inclusive to all users as pupils can remain in their own wheelchair whilst using the platform. Pupils can use switches or a joy stick to control their direction of movement.
This would be a brilliant piece of equipment for pupils at Woodlands School – please help us to raise the money!"
DriveDeck - Smart Platform
A Drivedeck offers wheelchair users the chance to explore their environment in safety at their own pace.
