Background
I was recently contacted by a local resident to see if I could help one of the local schools who were making PPE protective visors for NHS, Social Care and key worker.
On contacting the school I learned that they had already produced 600 visors. These were distributed free of charge to hospitals in the local and neighbouring areas, to social care staff, to pharmacies and to companies undertaking work for vulnerable members in the community. However, they had run out of material and asked for help with getting hold of more.
I promised to look into this, however I didn't know what I was letting myself in for! I spent the best part of the next two days searching the web and speaking to companies in my search for the material. This became like finding gold dust! Some companies had paused production because of coronavirus, some had sold out and others were waiting for more supplies. I continued in my efforts until I found a company who had limited supplies. Following a flurry of messages to the school to confirm the material, I quickly placed the order it was selling like hot cakes!
I personally delivered the material to the school and was pleased to meet the headteacher and staff leading on the project. The staff could now continue with producing a further 1,000 visors on top of the 600 they had already made. To date the school has produced some 1,631 visors! That is a great achievement.
I have also since learnt that there are a number of other local schools who are producing visors. The schools and staff are doing their bit but need support with the supply of materials so that they can carry on making more visors to protect frontline staff in the NHS, Social Care and key workers.
This is what the schools are saying:
'Our greatest request from NHS and Care community is for visors'
'We are due to start production and are short of materials'
'We would be extremely grateful for any resources in order that we may continue outputting these invaluable items of PPE'
All I am asking for is your kind contribution, no matter how small, to go towards buying more Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) material and items to help the schools. Please ACT NOW and make a donation.
