My passion for parkour started way back, long before YouTube was around to make it popular. Growing up, I lived for the outdoors. There was no draw to sitting in front of the TV; that was time I could be out climbing walls, jumping over fences, and exploring with friends. Back then, Nokia's were the top phones, and we spent more time running around than talking on them. Parkour wasn’t even called “parkour” to us; it was just how we played, challenged ourselves, and pushed boundaries. Those early days, running through the neighbourhood, gave me a sense of freedom I’d never felt anywhere else.
As I grew older, my love for movement only deepened. Then one day, I was given the chance to teach parkour, and I realized that I could actually share this passion with others. Standing in front of my first group of students, something clicked. Seeing them take their first leaps, stumbles, and successes reminded me of how I’d felt starting out. That thrill of moving, overcoming fear, and learning your own limits—it’s powerful. From that first session, I knew I’d found my calling, and I haven’t looked back since.
In 2022, I decided to take the plunge and make parkour my full-time work. I opened my own parkour business in the heart of Barnstaple’s town centre, a space where kids, adults, and people of all abilities could come and explore movement in a safe, encouraging environment. It hasn’t been easy; building a business from scratch never is. I run a small team, and that’s intentional. I love being there for every session, every class. I want to be present, making sure things are safe, and nothing goes wrong. Most of all, I want to see the kids and adults who come to my sessions grow—not just as athletes, but as individuals gaining confidence, resilience, and a love for physical movement.
Watching the kids progress over time has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. They come in a little unsure, maybe a little scared. Then, slowly, they start to take bigger jumps, to trust their bodies more. They learn to tackle obstacles, not just in parkour but in life. That’s why I do this. I want to help them build skills and memories, just like I did with my friends back when parkour was just something we did for fun.
Running this business is more than a job to me. It’s a dream I’ve chased since I was a kid, something I love pouring my energy into every day. For me, parkour is about freedom, growth, and the joy of pushing limits—and there’s nothing more fulfilling than sharing that with others.
