About Me and My Idea:
I am passionate about clay modelling and the transformative power of hands-on creativity. BG Sculpture Studio is my vision for an inclusive space where people from all walks of life can come together, learn, and create. At the moment, I am the sole person behind this initiative, working to bring my dream to life and build a welcoming creative hub for the community.
Our Vision:
I aim to establish a studio where creativity flourishes, offering accessible clay modelling classes and workshops that inspire artistic expression and personal growth. My goal is to nurture a space where people feel connected, supported, and empowered through sculptural art.
How I will Use the Funds:
The money raised will go toward renting a studio space, equipping it with essential tools and materials, and creating a comfortable environment for students and workshop participants. Additionally, it will support community outreach programs, ensuring that everyone—regardless of background—has the opportunity to engage in creative learning.
In more detail:
My artistic journey began in my grandfather’s forge, where I first witnessed the magic of turning thin, glistening copper sheets into intricate plates and bas-reliefs, and steel into elaborate gates. Those early experiences instilled in me an unwavering commitment to craft, persistence, and the beauty of creation—a passion that continues to drive my work today.
Over the years, I have honed my skills in traditional, academic, and anatomical clay modelling while also mastering a range of disciplines including drawing, oil painting, printmaking, studio photography, and carving both stone and wood. I hold a BA from The Art Academy of Latvia (2017) and an MFA from The University of Edinburgh (2019). My pursuit of excellence has led me to experiment boldly with diverse materials, such as wax, inspiring a series of evocative self-portraits that capture the emotional nuances of the human form.
Reflecting my artistic achievements, I am proud to be internationally represented by MONAT Gallery in Madrid, Spain, and to have received partnership offers from several other esteemed galleries worldwide. This global recognition has further inspired me to launch BG Sculpture Studio—a platform that, while not yet open, is set to be a sanctuary for my creative practice and a centre for art education and community engagement.
At BG Sculpture Studio, I believe passionately in the power of hands-on learning and creative exploration. With its forthcoming launch, I plan to offer a range of immersive educational experiences that include couples classes designed to promote shared creative expression and connection; corporate team days that foster collaboration and innovative thinking in an artistic setting; wellness sessions highlighting the therapeutic benefits of art-making; and advanced, anatomy-based day-long workshops that provide a deep dive into the intricacies of form, gesture, and the human body. Each of these offerings is carefully crafted to empower participants to unlock their creative potential, deepen their understanding of sculptural techniques, and experience the rejuvenating and transformative power of engagement with art.
