Hi, my name is Althea! I am from Scotland. I have a modest income but it is not enough to fund my fiance's visa. Life is full of twists and turns, and sometimes we all need a helping hand.
I am from the UK and my fiance is from abroad. I can not divulge much information about her as it may put her at risk. She is struggling to sustain mental cruelty, physical abuse and emotional abuse from her mum. I am reaching out to people who can be of help to us in funding the immigration process. We need to be together for her to be able to start a new life with me in the UK. At the moment she is being compromised for living with her mum and brother.
She related to me that her mum has been too controlling and is preventing her from being independent. Her mum is inhibiting her to live her life. Her mum took away her phone and she doesn't have access to her bank account. Her mum is telling her to resign from her job as she would prefer her to stay at home. But she refused and after an argument with her mum, she realized that her mum is capable of doing damage to her young life. She has no other contact. It is good that she has her work laptop and work phone. Her phone is dual sim and she bought another sim card which is what we use to communicate. As a result she has been having anxiety and being plagued by her mum's behaviour towards her. She is being treated like a prisoner and all her actions are being met with anger from her mum.
But the main thing is her mum doesn't know that I exist in her life and all this time we have kept it a secret from her family. Now she is forced by circumstances to plan to move away from her family. At the moment she is looking for a place to stay temporarily. With this problematic situation she sought the help of a counsellor and a lawyer as her visa is under the sponsorship of her mum. Now her mum has issued a threat that she would cancel her visa and her passport runs out. Before this happens I advised her to hold on to her job which is a positive factor to keep her afloat and its a good thing to have her atm card with her but still has no access to her digital banking account which is registered to her phone that is being held by her mum against her will. However her mum says she is going to give it back after a month.
The family environment that she lives in has become toxic for her which causes her severe distress and mental anguish. This has a serious impact on her mental health and well-being as it stands. She wants a peaceful and harmonious environment. We both agree that she can change and improve her life once she comes over. But our intention is being beset with financial constraints at the moment.
Online communication has been our vital link. We had known each other for months and discovered a lot of things about our lives. It took her several months to open up completely to me and then relate her family situation. She found it very comforting to find that safe place with me and be her harbour.
So this is a story of love. There is however an urgency as it is critical for her. Her mental health, safety and security is at stake. Unfortunately it is beyond my financial capacity to bring her over. It may take years for us to be able to save from our meager incomes. There is an urgent need for us to be together as she is trapped in a critical situation that involves her narcissistic mother who attacked her and vows to ruin her life, career and relationship.
First of, she is hiding her sexuality from her mum as being a muslim it is not allowed for her to be gay. She wants to be free from this. Her family is strongly against homosexuality and her mum doesn' t know that she is gay. There is an existing danger to her safety.
We have been virtually connected and everyday we do video calls. It has been like that since we started our LDR (long distance relationship). We are a gay couple. We love each other so much that we intend to get married here in the UK.
But we do not have funds to pay for her visas and plane tickets. I am in receipt of state benefits and that exempts me from the financial requirement. I have no other source of income apart from the state benefits that I am getting from the government. So in this regard I am setting up a campaign for my fiance.
This is a May-December affair. Love bloomed between the two of us as we felt like we knew each other. Who would have thought right that this could turn into something serious but it did. Love became stronger than we, and each day we crave for each other's company, growing accustomed to her face, her presence is such a gift of grace. She brings me joy and happiness.I guess everyone knows how to be in love and being in a relationship. You want the best for your wife to be, right?
This is very heavy on my mind as I would want her to be able to adapt to a new life here in the UK. She has the potential of being able to grow and develop a career. She needs a new start in life.
All in all my target amount is £15,000 which covers visa fees, lawyer's fees and the wedding ceremony with reception for close family and friends. The fundamental cost that every applicant has to bear is the visa application fee. For 2024, the fiance visa application fee stands at £1,846 if you apply from outside the UK and £1,048 if you apply inside the UK. Then after six months the switch to spouse visa is the next step which has to be done before the six months period ends. The UK spouse visa application fee in 2024 is £1,048 if your application is made inside the UK and £1,846 if your application is made outside the UK. Other costs include Immigration Healthcare Surcharge £1,035 for each year and biometric fee £19.20. There are other costs with the English Test and Tuberculosis test as well. On top of that there is a lawyer's fee for each visa. Fiancé visa application / Marriage or Civil partnership application £2,950. Spouse, civil partners and de facto visa applications, including fiancé(e)s or proposed civil partners (We typically offer a fixed fee ranging from £1,500 to £2,500 (excluding VAT)
Essential costs on civil partnership ceremonies, rings, outfits, and plane tickets are part of the to-do-list. I dream of having a decent wedding in a civil registry office with the witnesses, family members and friends. So I aim for a budget of around £15k to make it happen. Other expenses are for accommodation needs for a bed, wardrobes and miscellaneous needs. I wouldn't want my fiance to be deprived of these basic needs as a new couple. I have a home to offer her but the amenities are meager so I would appreciate a boost to my funding goal.
Exemptions from meeting the financial requirement are available where a sponsor is receiving income from any of the following sources: Disability living allowance. I am receiving Adult Disability Payment.
I am making an appeal to people who are keen to help people like me. It is hard to make ends meet but I have a dream and that is to have my fiance over here. I am her home and family. Here in the UK she can be free to live her own life without fear.
This is an honest situation of my fiance who must find a way to get away from the cruelty and abuse from her mother. I know that money doesn't grow on trees so I am appealing to people, organizations, family and friends who are in a capacity to give. We are desperate for help. Truly.
