Help them get started
Your support makes a difference
Aim: To prevent homelessness and support me and my son until I start work as a newly qualified nurse.
Hi, my name is Rose and I’m a newly qualified nurse and single mum to a beautiful little boy. I’ve recently completed my nursing degree a goal I worked incredibly hard for while juggling full-time study, clinical placements, and raising my son on my own from just 5 days old.
Right now, I’m facing the most difficult period of my life.
Due to my placement and cancelled work shifts from my part time job and no one to help with childcare, I’ve fallen behind on rent. I’ve been served both Section 21 and Section 8 eviction notices, and I could be homeless in less than 2 weeks be I have no means of paying the rent. The council has advised me to remain in the property for now, but I have no income to catch up on rent or prepare for what comes next.
This crisis began in January, when my nursing course was extended from December 2024 and got worse in April 2025 because of unavoidable childcare issues. Since then, I’ve received next to nothing in benefits because I was classed as a student and still is. Struggling to get support where I should be getting it I am unable to due to a notional academic year being used but I was not aligned with the typical academic year. I’ve been borrowing money just to survive. I now rely on Clearpay, Klarna, and PayPal Credit just to buy food and essentials, repaying in instalments where I can.
My son will turn 3 years old on the 2nd of July, and I can’t do anything for him. I’m heartbroken. I also graduate on the 8th of July, but instead of celebrating, I feel anxious, scared, and defeated.
There’s so much more going on, and I have evidence to support everything I’m saying. Please don’t doubt me I’m open to questions. I just want someone to listen and understand.
Despite all this, I’m proud to have made it through my studies. I want to start my nursing career and give my son the secure, happy life he deserves. But right now, we’re hanging on by a thread.
If you can help even a little it will go directly toward food, rent, and keeping us safe while I get back on my feet.
Thank you for reading. Your kindness could truly change everything for us.
