Dear friends and kind-hearted supporters,
I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of my neighbor’s family, A Routine Checkup turned tragic: From coma to heartbreaking loss. This is my first time organizing a fundraiser, and I hope you’ll join me in making a real difference in their lives.
The family consists of four members: a hardworking father (now deceased), his wife, a 17-year-old son, and a 12-year-old daughter. For years, the father supported his family by building and selling houses. He borrowed money to fund the construction, repaying his debts after the houses were sold. This system worked well until the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the real estate market. Lockdowns left him unable to complete his projects or repay his debts, leaving the family in financial distress.
Then tragedy struck. The father went for a routine endoscopy and, shockingly, never came home. What should have been a simple procedure left him in a coma, and he passed away three days later. The hospital provided no clear explanation for his death, and the family’s complaint was dismissed by the medical board.
I’ve included a portion of the report they received from the district panel committee in the cover photo. The mother handed it to me, asking me to explain it because she doesn’t understand English. It was incredibly difficult for me, knowing how devastating the contents would be for her. The committee, composed of seven members, unanimously concluded that the hospital was not at fault. Her husband had gone to the hospital on a motorcycle with her by his side—and this is how it ended.
The loss of their breadwinner pushed the family deeper into debt. Creditors began demanding repayment, and the bank has now issued an eviction notice. Their home is set to be foreclosed by the end of January, leaving them with nowhere to go..
The mother works tirelessly at a factory, earning just ₹300 (around £3) a day to cover basic needs. Despite her efforts, they cannot meet their debts. The family tried to sell their home, but the amount needed to clear the mortgage far exceeds its market value.
My Goal
My aim with this fundraiser is to raise £20,000 to help the family secure a small home. This will give them a fresh start, free from the crushing burden of debt and eviction.
How You Can Help
I’ve done everything I can to support this family, but as an international student managing my own loans and living expenses, I’ve reached my financial limits.
Your contributions will go directly to this family, helping them:
Secure a modest home to live in.
Relieve the immediate financial burden of eviction.
Rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Every little bit counts. If you are unable to donate, please share this campaign with others who might be able to help. Together, we can give this family a chance to recover and rebuild.
Thank you for reading and for your generosity. I’m happy to provide more details or proof about the family’s situation if needed—please feel free to reach out.
Let’s bring hope back into their lives.
