*Help Build a Home for Maruf and His Family This Ramadhan*
This is the story of Alhaz Maruf, a 15-year-old boy from NouaGaw, Sylhet, whose life changed forever in January 2024 when his father, Late Join Uddin, passed away. Since then, his mother, Jahanara Begum, has been left to care for her two children alone, with no stable source of income or a home of their own.
Maruf, despite being just a teenager, has taken on the responsibility of providing for his mother and younger sister. He works at a rickshaw repair shop, earning 30p day which he uses to support his family.
His younger sister is still in school, and their mother, a grieving widow, struggles daily to keep her children safe and fed.
*A Chance for a New Beginning*
Though their late father left them a small plot of land, they lack the financial means to build a home. Currently they live in the house of their late father’s brother, feeling like a burden with no place to call their own. They share one small room, it consists of a small gas stove, one bed and pots and pans; in the corner of the room there lays a prayer mat. Everything they own is in this small room.
This Ramadhan, the month of mercy, let’s come together to give this orphaned family a safe place to live. A home where they can find security, dignity and hope for the future.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” — placing his index and middle fingers together. (Sahih Bukhari).
