This project successfully funded on 7th March 2022, you can still support them with a donation.

Aim: Our aim is to raise enough money to purchase 2000 trees for native hedging, as part of our Wild East pledge to re-instate the old hedgerows.

1644228631_greenacres_smallholding_cic_logo_(2).jpgWe are a Small Member Community Interest Company Limited by Guarantee (CIC), a CIC is a company that exists to benefit the community rather than private share holders.  Greenacres was officially incorporated on 5th October 2021, Companies House registration number: 13661425

We have made a commitment that Greenacres Smallholding CIC (Greenacres) will carry out its activities for the benefit of the community, namely by:

Creating a bio-diverse area, not using heavy machinery and working by hand and horse on the land

Hedging and Ditching

We are @wildeast pledgees, we have pledged 20% of our land to rewilding

By reinstating the original boundary hedgerows that were destroyed in the 1970's we can reintroduce corridors for polinators, insects, birds and small mammals.

Each boundary is 200 metres in length, each length needs 1000 trees

To create a new boundary along the centre of the land, in order that we can also create an 8 acre wild flower meadow, we need fencing, to keep the livestock off the meadow between April and July.

We are planning to buy our hedging plants from The Woodland Trust that way you can be assured that the plants will be sourced sustainably and will be native, not shipped in from abroad.

We also:

Promote Suffolk’s Rural heritage by maintaining and sustaining Suffolk’s heritage livestock breeds for future generations

Provide the local community (all people of all ages from Ipswich  and the surrounding areas) an opportunity to join a community farm

Provide support to adults, young people and children with a defined need who would benefit from Green Care and being part of a community where they can learn, grow and thrive.
