Heaton Village Club started in1897 plans to continue its modernisation by building a Lobby with disability access to the clubhouse.

by Ray McCarthy in Bolton, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom

The Heaton Village club have been modernising the clubhouse (built in 1897) over the last few years. This has included adding a single person lift to the first floor, moving and widening doorways to facilitate wheelchair access as well as installation of Fire break ceilings/ fire warning system.  We have spent c £60k to date and now wish to rase funds to add a lobby with entrance ramp that will further enable those with disabilities to more easily access the club and bowling green.

The next phase of the plan is the building of a lobby with an entrance ramp providing full disability access to the modernised toilet Block (with disabled cubicle) and to the Bowling green allowing us to welcome wheelchair players in due course.

A small team have worked together to develop and manage the improvement with clear roles and responsibilities. (Project Lead, Technical support, Club communication/Co-ordination.

We have planning permission and now we need to raise the funds c£30k (up to date costings in progress)
