Our Story: Turning Heartbreak into a Brewery

Every great story has a beginning. Ours started with a classic heartbreak in our friendship group. We got through it the way friends do: with a healthy dose of unwavering support, and a lot of humour. During that time, we was struck by the power of community and the stories we shared. In those moments of connection, I realised something was missing in the wider world.

The UK beer scene is amazing, but it can be intimidating. With only 9% of craft brewers being women and a very real "gender pint gap," it's clear that many people feel disconnected from beer culture. We decided to take the resilience and power of our friendship and turn it into something positive, and frankly, a bit badass.

And so, Heartbreak Brewery was born.

It started as a joke during those get-togethers, a way to find humour and strength in a tough time. We'd name beers after dating disasters – the "Red Flag" you ignored, the time you got "Ghosted." But the idea stuck. What if we could build a brand that wasn't just about great beer, but about creating that same feeling of inclusive community on a bigger scale? A place that was unapologetically female-led, but welcoming to all? A space where everyone feels safe, valued, and celebrated.

That's what this crowdfunder is for. We're not just asking you to help us build a brewery; we're inviting you to be a Founding Heartbreaker.

Our vision is simple: to create Wokingham's most loved and respected craft beer destination.

Imagine a stylish, modern, and comfortable taproom right in the heart of town. It’s not a traditional, dark-wood pub. It’s a vibrant, welcoming space filled with great conversations, community spirit, and exceptional beer.

Every pint has a past and every name tells a story.

Our pour line-up is where we translate the messy, magnificent, and often complex world of relationships into exceptionally crafted beers, with each flavour profile meticulously chosen to capture the quintessential situations we find ourselves in whilst dating or in relationships.

We'll pour our own unique flagship beers, like the "Red Flag" Cherry Sour, the "Ghosted" Hazy Pale Ale, and the "'Til Death" Ice Cream Stout. Alongside them, we’ll have a curated selection of guest beers from amazing local and national breweries, as well as quality wines, ciders, and locally-sourced snacks.

More than just a bar, this will be a community hub. We'll host quiz nights, tasting events, and workshops. We'll partner with and champion other local businesses, especially those led by women. And we'll forge a meaningful partnership with a local women's charity, using our platform to empower and uplift the community we serve.
