Thare Machi Education is a UK registered charity (1080131). Since 2000 we have been publishing interactive health education in local languages for use all over the world. We've begun to make lessons in 11 different local languages for use in South Africa, (they can also be used in Botswana, Lesotho & Zimbabwe): Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho, Twsana, Pedi, Tsonga, Venda, Ndebele and Shona.
So far, we have 120 lessons available (including at least 3 in every language listed), but with your help we'd like to create 200 more, at the cost of just £100 per lesson, so that every lesson is available in every language, in order that every person can watch a potentially life-saving DVD in their mother-tongue. People who've watched our lessons tell us that they learn things that are really useful, and as a result they are able to live healthier, happier lives.
Our lessons cover vital subjects like HIV, Basic Hygiene, Addiction, Sex Education, and the highly topical subject of Human Trafficking - this lesson was originally written by students in South Africa, concerned that girls were being trafficked for prostituion at the time of the World Cup but is currently only available in Afrikaans, Zulu and Xhosa. Please help us make this and other lessons available in more languages, so that children and their families can learn how to protect themselves.
