RCN 1075338, Ipswich

Headway Suffolk’s aims are to provide rehabilitation, and care for adults with a neurological condition ,to offer their families respite, support and advice. The services offered are hubs in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds, and smaller hubs around the county, home care, community support, and clinical support . We offer respite and rehab holidays and assessment weeks. Our clients frequently tell us that we have helped to rebuild their lives. Family carers tell us that when a person has a brain injury, the whole family has a brain injury and that Headway Suffolk are there to give them the support that they need to stay together in community

Headway Suffolk is a local charity that looks after people with an acquired brain injury or neurological condition .Some of our clients are young and just starting out in life when they have met with catastrophe either through a stroke or traumatic brain injury .This results in them being unable to mobilize, communicate, concentrate; they may have inappropriate behaviour. This leads to loss of employment ,breakdown of friendships and partnerships leaving them isolated and alone. Headway Suffolk aims to teach people the skills that they might have lost so eventually they can live independently and keep down a paid job. In order to do this we need a range of equipment such as  exercise bikes that people in wheelchairs can use and standing frames which will help people get the use of their legs again. It is for these items that we're appealing to the public .We reckon we need about £20,000 to improve the equipment we have in our physio gym so that people get the maximum rehabilitation and reach their full potential as soon as possible and can get on with their meaningful lives
