Aim: Allowing children a safe space to try their hand at a new skill such as potting plants, caring for animals, cooking, painting and crafting.
Many children are now stuck to mobile and/or gaming devices. Have a Go aims to break that cycle by giving a relaxed and safe space for them to try learn a new skill - all whilst having a digital detox! These are simple but fun activities that will stay with them for life.
We are in the process of relocating to the countryside with our young family. I’m really keen to ensure that we provide a service wherever we go - and give something back to society. There is potential for this to be a CIC but we thought we would see if there is any appetite on Crowdfunding first.
The funds raised would go towards the space rental plus kit required to complete the activities. The list of items and kit would include:
Cooking: chopping boards, pans, utensils, ovenproof dishes, storage tubs to allow dishes to be taken away, fridge and freezer for ingredients
Potting: seed tray, seeds, compost, watering can, plant labels, greenhouse maintenance
Crafting: terracotta pots, glue, paint, brushes, seating area (with a view to extend this activity further for older children such as making a bird house which would include the supervised use of tools such as screwdriver and saw)
Orienteering: maps, compass, rucksack
Animal Care: gloves and apron to protect clothing - animals ranging from rescued chickens and ducks to goats and pigs on a small farm
We would also purchase lockable safes for devices to ensure full focus remains on the days activities!
I firmly believe that it is important to allow children to experience these types of activities - our own boys have thrived from taking part in all of the above!
I would really love to give something back and light fires of enthusiasm within our younger generations.
