Our organisation supports local people with learning disabilities. We strive to support their families and carers. Hastings and Bexhill Mencap provides day services, a visual and performing arts project and a residential care home. Our services are supported by our charity shop which serves the people of Kings Road, in St Leonards.
Our day service, Open Door provides individualised support to it's members with a full program of meaningful activities, improving life skills alongside promoting health and well being.
Active Arts is an arts project which celebrates learning disabled artists in our community. The weekly timetable includes Arts and Design classes, Comedy and Drama classes as well as Dance and Musical Theatre. Students work throughout the year to perform and contribute to the Active Arts show which is held at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill.
Hastings and Bexhill Mencap also run a care home in central Hastings. Westwood is home to nine residents with varying support needs and are encouraged and supported to make decisions in their home and to be as independent as possible.
Our organisation is financially supported by holding fundraising social activities and by our charity shop in Kings Road, St Leonards.
