Who are we?
My son Harrison is a member of the England National Karate Kata squad, he competes currently in the Cadet category. Harrison is currently ranked 79th in the world.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Harrison is aiming to represent England and his Club Musuko Karate Academy at multiple events this year.
Last year was a fantastic year for Harrison medaling at nearly all of the tournaments he went to domestically and competing in 2 International Youth League's, with Harrison currently being World number 79 in the Cadet category in his first year of International competition.
Unfortunately Karate is not funded by the governing body or the Government in this country, therefore any Karate athletes and their families have to cover the costs of all the trips themselves.
The reason for this fund is to hopefully raise funds to assist Harrison to get to as many International tournaments as possible.
We’re hoping this year Harrison can break into the Top 50 in the World.
How we’ll spend the money raised
All funds raised will be used towards the costs of attending the International Youth League competitions in Spain, Croatia and hopefully Italy.
We would also use funds to potentially purchase new Kata Gi’s, as Harrison is continually out growing his. At nearly £500 for a replacement set each time.
Community impact
Harrison currently volunteers to teach local karate students at Musuko Karate Academy. Being a positive role model to the younger students and showing them anything is possible with hardworking and dedication is important to Harrison.
