Harbury e-Wheels provides free transport using electric cars to people in need referred by social agencies and surgeries. It operates in a restricted geographical area collecting passengers from within 15 miles radius of the centre of Harbury, Warwickshire. Journeys will cover a wider area to include Stratford-on-Avon, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Rugby and Coventry.

Donate to this charity
Since its launch in October 2015 Harbury e-Wheels has gained an excellent reputation for efficiency and much needed support for people in need in the local community. We insist on being absolutely free to passengers and referring agencies to ensure complete equality irrespective of age or income; and we insist on using dedicated electric cars to ensure that we add no pollution to the atmosphere by adding this transport scheme to the local area. As well as helping people reach destinations we also deliver donated food and groceries weekly to the local Food Bank distribution centre in Kineton. The service is not restricted to Harbury residents. We will collect people from up to 15 miles radius of the centre of Harbury and this takes in several areas of deprivation.
The charity has 25 volunteers engaged in various activities from driving or coordinating to data management. The majority of our passengers are either elderly and infirm or young families on low incomes. We also help people the temporarily disabled and job seekers. One of our aims is to bring people out of isolation and help them to attend social events. For example every month we take visually impaired passengers to the support group in the local town of Southam. We are supporting social welfare agencies and medical and dental centres to do their work by ensuring that their clients can reach important appointments and events. We also help some elderly passengers to go shopping in Leamington Spa.

A big thank you to everyone for your wonderful service. After our plea for help yesterday to pick up medicine, Bev Walshe contacted us last night and delivered the medicine this morning. A huge relief.
It is so reassuring that this service is available if we need it in the future.

Rural areas in Warwickshire are not well served by public transport. Not only that but journeys to hospital by bus can be long and complicated with several connections needed. The cost is prohibitive for people on low incomes.
By supporting Harbury e-Wheels you will be enabling vulnerable people to reach vital appointments, socialise, receive counselling and support.
