Nurses' hands are cracking + peeling from excessive washing during COVID-19. Let's look after their hands, whilst they look after our lives.
by Lauren Michelle Pires in London, England, United Kingdom
The constant use of harsh chemicals in soap/sanitiser on skin can cause dermatitis (a type of hand eczema). This is a big problem for nurses that's spiked during COVID-19. Many nurses are finding their hands cracking and peeling whilst trying to save lives on long shifts. Hand cream can help prevent this, but there's a shortage in hospitals right now. And there are still weeks (if not months) of hard work ahead.
As a manicurist, I work with hands for a living; and I was contacted by the wife of an NHS worker to see if I could help with this. I'm raising £1000* to get much-needed cream to NHS staff. All money raised will be sent directly to Nursem - a hand cream brand developed by nurses, for nurses. They will distribute this to the NHS' ICU staff.
If you, like me, are feeling helpless for the nurses and doctors at the NHS right now - please donate and maybe we can help ease just one of their problems from the comfort of our homes, whilst they're on the front line of the pandemic.
Whatever you can donate will directly help an NHS member keep doing their job and help save a life. Thank you x

*We have reached our goal! Thank you to all who have donated so far. As COVID19 is an ongoing crisis for the foreseeable future, I will be keeping this donation page open. Any money raised over the £1000 target will be donated to an alternative brand who can supply creams to the front line NHS staff.
We ask project owners to honour their rewards wherever possible but please note that all pledges are donations and there is no guarantee that you will receive any rewards from the project owner. Please see Crowdfunder's Terms of Use for more information regarding rewards for pledges.
